High Self-Esteem Checklist
Having a high self-esteem means more than just liking yourself. It involves loving, valuing, respecting, and believing in yourself. Self-esteem encompasses how you feel about yourself and having a high self-esteem allows you to feel worthy and allows you to feel capable of achieving greater things. Having high self-esteem is important because it allows you to put your highs and lows into perspective since at the end of the day you truly respect and believe in yourself. If you’re looking to boost your self-esteem, keep this checklist in your daily to-do list. Write affirmations, move your body, practice self-care, and compliment yourself and others.
Write Affirmations
Your mind can be a very powerful tool. Writing affirmations can help to keep positive thoughts at the forefront of your mind. When writing affirmations, be sure to write them in present tense with a positive tone of voice. Make your affirmations believable and something you can work towards. Lastly, make sure they reflect your priorities and what you hope to achieve. Read this article to learn more about affirmations and to find some examples of some that you can start using today. Move Your Body
As you probably already know, moving your body for at least 30 minutes a day can make you both happier and healthier. It can boost both your mood, energy, and self-confidence. On days when you feel less than average, try to workout for half an hour and that can be the difference between having a self-pity party versus a well-deserved boost of confidence. Try to go for a walk in your neighborhood, join a new workout class in your community, or buy a new home workout video. Moving your body for just half an hour can make a big difference in improving your self-esteem.
Take At Least 10 Minutes to Practice Self Care
Try to take at least 10 minutes a day to practice self-care. The best way to do this is to incorporate it into your daily routine- such as morning and night-time routines. Making time for yourself during your busy days helps you remember to put yourself first. Take a bath, take yourself out to dinner, put on a face mask, and whatever else you enjoy doing. Self-care can work to promote both physical and emotional health. It can be “anything that you can do for yourself that feels nourishing” says licensed psychologist Marni Amsellem. Make sure that you are checking in with yourself and giving your mind and body what they need.
Compliment Yourself / Someone Else
Complimenting yourself can shift your productivity and efficiency levels. It can help you become less insecure and understand your worth. You can practice complimenting yourself at any time of day. Keeping a positive mindset can really help to boost your self-esteem. Compliments make other people feel good and other people want to be around you. Giving compliments to others is also good for the recipient. When you go out of your way to praise another person, it can boost your self-confidence and nourish your self -esteem. It also helps to strengthen your relationship with other people, thus strengthening your support system.
